Back in 2017, we announced the inclusion of ski mountaineering in the Winter Olympic Games. At the time, the International Olympic Committee Executive Board announced that they would be including ski mountaineering in the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games – Lausanne. That time is upon us and there’s a lot of excitement surrounding preparations.
Forty-eight youth ski mountaineers will be making Olympic history this winter and the Olympic Games organization made a review of what’s to be expected for next year’s games, including words from Swiss ski mountaineer Yannick Ecoeur.
The 2020 Winter Olympic Games will begin on 09 Jan with the Opening Ceremony in Lausanne. Competitions will begin the following day. This year, fireworks will start the ceremony.
According to the official schedule, ski mountaineering competitions will take place on Day 01, Friday, 10 Jan. at Villars Winter Park.
