Swedish mountaineer Fredrik Sträng has made it safely to Islamabad, Pakistan and is on track to commence K2 2017.

Dispatch #2 Fredrick Sträng K2 2017

In our last Dispatch, we detailed Sträng’s pre-game preparation for K2 2017 and his plans for the expedition. Sträng was set to leave Sweden on 12 June.

We are very excited to report that Sträng has made it to Islamabad safely and began his workout preparations early on 13 June. He is in good spirits and keeping good company, excited about the days ahead.

Also in the region are other climbers heading for the Baltoro Trek, including Collin Haley, which Sträng once climbed with when Haley was a 17-year-old “shooting star.” Both are expected to catch up on the trail.

What’s Next in Fredrik Sträng’s K2 Expedition

Sträng now begins the daunting task of organizing the gear and food he arranged to have shipped to Islamabad on 04 June prior to his arrival. He plans to continue a strict preparation regimen that includes proper exercise and food intake daily.

After settling in and organizing gear, Sträng will join other climbers on the Baltoro Trek and come one step closer to K2.

He will ascend K2 via the Abruzzi Spur Route and do so with no supplementary oxygen.

We’ll continue to bring you Dispatches on Fredrik Sträng’s K2 2017 Expedition as he progresses toward his goal of successfully summiting K2. BCM is wishing him a successful season.
